Making Room for What Matters

Lately, I am making more room for the things that make both the week and the weekend feel good. Tennis, golf, an afternoon around sports, or simply sitting back and enjoying myself. A good dinner with someone whose company I enjoy. Music on the way home, an easy conversation, or a little quiet. Whatever feels good in the moment. The early stages of building Onward Upward Sports & Events required a lot of attention and energy. I was building on my own, and that work often extended into weekends. There were relationships to develop, decisions to make, and the everyday work of turning an idea into a working business. Now, the business is stabilizing enough that I can step away with more confidence. I have dependable people alongside me, stronger partnerships with established businesses and respected organizations, and relationships reaching senior leadership. I am becoming more comfortable trusting that foundation and enjoying the freedom it creates. Letting go of the negativity from those early days has helped, too. It has made room for better relationships, clearer decisions, and people I can rely on. Delegating is part of my responsibility as a business owner. That includes trusting others to represent the company at events and carry responsibilities forward. The company can have a strong presence while I spend that time playing sports, enjoying someone’s company, or taking the day for myself. That is part of why I built this. I care about the work, and I am building it to support a fulfilling life. Looking ahead to marriage and family, my priorities are clear: my future wife and our family will come before work. The decisions I am making now support that future. This October, I am already focused on strengthening that personal foundation. I am making plans, following through, protecting time to recharge, and staying open to a meaningful relationship. I am also leaving room for fun without having to turn every activity into something productive. There is a lot ahead that excites me. Right now, I am enjoying the progress, trusting the people and partnerships around me, and giving myself room to live the life I am building.
